I am a writer of short stories, and a student, who is perhaps too fond of watching movies and spending time on the Internets. I spend a lot of time on Newgrounds, and I've attempted but generally failed to learn flash. There isn't really much else to say.

You applied the idea of a mouse-guided character to a genre that has never before used one: an original idea. In addition; the game plays well and is actually rather fun. Doesn't cause lag, and while the graphics leave a little to be desired, the game is well-rounded and has a good balance of difficulty and fun. A nice little piece of hack-and-slash genre reform. All-in-all it gets a 7.5 out of 10 from me; but if you improve the graphics, and maybe add in a "special move" of some sort (a staple for this genre of game) then this could well be worthy of a 10/10. I look forward to seeing more good work from you. :)
Author's Response:
Well, the spacebar to go faster was meant to be a special move, sorta... I was trying to think of something else for a real special move, but all I could think of was something that would kill all the ninjas on screen, and I figured that would be a bit cheap :P There's also a little hidden technique that I shall not detail...
Thanks for the detailed review and compliments. I just wish I could have added the slashing and dying sound effects, but it caused some fierce lag, and I probably should have shaded the characters :P

Like you said: it's a nice, cool little effect. Use it to make a game and then resubmit to NG. I do give you credit for making the effect, which works perfectly and is very nice, but please don't submit something like this, as it's neither a complete flash nor a complete game.
Author's Response:
ok... Sorry but i was working on a full game and i loose my data

Honestly. I'm not one of those people who is going to cheer you on simply because i have some sadistic urge to watch you piss people off. Neither, though, am i one of those who would get reallly angry at you and write a long speech about your so-called flashes. But i simply ask you this: why waste your time on this? It doesn't accomplish anything for either you or anyone else. There are a million ways to improve this, but you won't do any of them. I just want to know: why the hell do you do this?
Author's Response:
Because people want me to.

Unoriginal, but not bad. The graphics were pretty good and the controls were obvious, it was playable though it might have left some feeling confused.
If you wanna make this better:
improve the score system and make it more readeable,
work on the way the plane drags behind the mouse, it was kinda annoying,
make different weapons and damage/fire rates,
and include instructions after the intro.
Author's Response:
Noted. Thanks.

"Basically a sidescrolling Devil May Cry..."
Yeah, you get a 0 for originality, but a 10 for awesome. One thing i liked was how the enemies were fast enough that you couldn't beat the game with just the guns, but slow enough that the guns weren't completely useless. That kind of balance is difficult to achieve.Considering this was made in flash,a Devil May Cry clone is a significant achievement.Graphics need work, but other than that this was a pretty great game.Upgradeable weapons would be a nice addition though.8/10.
Author's Response:
yea...one thing about this game, is that it was practically made in a week, all the graphics were done in that amount of time, though since I used the same engine as Wrath of Xantsu and the main characters animations it went by quicker, but I still had to work my ass off to get this out on time.

quite well done if i do say so myself, the only thing that wasn't that great was the audio, and even that wasn't horrible.all-in-all three words sum up this movie:
lol masturbation closet.
Author's Response:
TomFitz made the music. Any audio comments should go to him.
Anyways, I've been building on the Masturbation Closet idea. Just you wait.

this was a great game, nicely original and apt controls. However this game was fucking hard!i lost almost all lives on first level and took me 3 tries to beat the second boss.If it's that hard for me,methinks it must be almost impossible for those who are mousely-challenged (people with laptop mousepad thingies).Keep up the good work, but at the very least add in the ability to toggle dificulty settings.
p.s.nobody likes a bragger.though you may be an excellent flash artist,
don't be so boastful.
Author's Response:
I'm glad you enjoyed the game, you're suggestion for a diffuculty setting may be a very good idea.
And indeed nobody likes a bragger, I intended the descrition as a joke and I hoped the disclaimer in the second paragraph would show that, but I guess I could have stood to be a little more clear. I'm well aware this is no where near the greatest flash game in history, I just found it funny to call it so. I'm actually a rather humble person in real life.
Anywho, thanks for the suggestions, take care!

emos say they're nonconformists but then they made a group for themselves, society's lies penetrate all attempts to escape the vortex of misery and perpetual sorrow know as the world.that's why i'm not emo,i refuse to define myself by conforming to some clique that was created by mindwashed bastards(regardless of how good their intentions may be)
Author's Response:
What is so bad about being a conformist? Breaking rules that are imposed for society's benefit is just an immature cry for attention or individuality, therefore making yourself no better than an emo...
Secondly, what is so bad about being defined in a cetegory? In refusing to be classified in a "clique", you are yourself creating your own clique labelled "non-conformist", and that is one of the most attention-seeking and childish cliques of all...
Thanks for the relatively mediocre review (and the nice insight)!
